A success on every front

On Wednesday November 21st, the Prime Ministers' Sporting Oration (PMSO) was launched in style, highlighted by a stirring speech by the Hon Julia Gillard AC, our 27th and first female Prime Minister. Ms Gillard’s speech was fittingly met with a standing ovation, and we extend our gracious thanks to her for rising to the occasion with aplomb.

The PMSO was attended by just over 480 of Australia’s most prominent business people, philanthropists, policy makers and politicians, who together have the capacity to bring about one of the most significant historical shifts in the way sport is funded in this country.

Through the Australian Sports Foundation and its grant program Sport4Everyone, we are delighted to be able to raise tax-deductible donations for grassroots sport for the benefit of our future generations. In our next newsletter, we will report back to you on the sum of funds raised to date, as well as more detail about the Sport4Everyone grant program through which they will be distributed.

Our vision for this event was not for it to be a one-off, but for it to become a leadership initiative and one of the premier and must-attend events on the Australian sporting calendar.

To that end, I extend my heartfelt thanks to you all for joining us on a journey that has only just begun.
