What is the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration?
The Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration is a speech delivered by a former Prime Minister which aims to inspire the nation through the common language of our country: sport.
The purpose of the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration is to raise funds for the benefit of grassroots and community sport – allocated to key cause areas nominated for that year.
Who is delivering 2018’s Oration?
The Hon. Julia Gillard AC, Australia’s first female and 27th Prime Minister (2010-2013), will deliver the inaugural Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration. Ms Gillard is currently Chair of Beyond Blue and the Global Partnership for Education, a fund aiming to provide equitable educational opportunities for children in developing nations.
When will the first Oration be delivered?
The inaugural Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration will take place on the 21st November 2018, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
When will the next Oration be delivered?
The Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration is an annual event, held in the third week of November.

The Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration was the initiative of Dr Campbell A. Rose AM.
Who oversees the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration?
The Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration is auspiced by and an event of the Australian Sports Foundation. The Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration is managed by an Organising Committee selected jointly by the Australian Sports Foundation and Dr Campbell A Rose AM.
Who is the Australian Sports Foundation?
The Australian Sports Foundation was founded by the Federal Government in 1986 and raises money for sport through philanthropic and community donations. It is the only organisation in Australia to have Deductible Gift Recipient status for sport, and since its inception has raised more than $400m for over 2,500 sporting projects.

Who is the Patron of the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration?
Dr Susan Alberti AC is the Patron of the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration. Dr Alberti is the 2018 Victorian of the Year and one of Australia’s pre-eminent philanthropists, notable for her active fundraising and charitable support for diabetes and medical research, education and womens’ football. Susan founded and chairs the Susan Alberti Medical Research Foundation (SAMRF).
Who are the Ambassadors of the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration?
The Patron will appoint a select group of sports athletes as Ambassadors to the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration. Their role is to assist in raising awareness of the event and its key causes, increasing the funds raised for community and grassroots sport.
Where will funds raised by the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration go?
Funds raised by the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration will be received at the Australian Sports Foundation and allocated to key cause areas.
In 2018, four areas are being highlighted:
Women in sport – improving access to sport for women and girls
Physical activity – improving health outcomes for our youth
Leadership – promoting leadership through sports mentoring and scholarships
Diversity and inclusion – strengthening communities through sport.
How will funds be distributed?
Grassroots and community sporting organisations will be invited from early 2019 to apply for funds to support programs that address one or more of the key cause areas.
Selected recipients will be required to report back on the impact and outcomes of the program funded through the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration.
All donors and supporters of the PMSO event will receive periodic communications during the coming year to report on the impact of the fundraising.
How do I become a sponsor of the Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration?
The Prime Ministers’ Sporting Oration offers three categories of partnering opportunities:
Foundation partners at a cost of $25,000 plus GST
Event partners at a cost of $15,000 plus GST
Suppliers and supporters by provision of Value-in-Kind.

How do I buy a table?
Tables of 10 are included for both Foundation and Event partners to host on the evening.
Additional tables of 10 may be purchased at a ticket price of $1,500 (inclusive of GST) with a voluntary tax-deductible donation of $3,500 (not subject to GST). Total cost inclusive of the donation is $5,000 per additional table.
How much of my table purchase is tax deductible?
The voluntary donation of $3,500 per table is tax deductible. A receipt from the Australian Sports Foundation will be issued for all donations received.

2018’s Master of Ceremonies is Michael Rowland. Mr Rowland is an Australian news presenter and journalist who co-hosts ABC’s News Breakfast with Virginia Trioli.

An inspiring evening, highlighted by a rousing oration and the opportunity to dine and network with some of Australia’s most influential business leaders.

There will be no auction on the night.
